PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona manager Bob Melvin said Friday night that left fielder Eric Byrnes has two strained hamstrings.
An MRI exam revealed the leg injuries. The Diamondbacks placed the slumping Byrnes on the 15-day disabled list on Monday. His return is uncertain."It's pretty consistent with what we thought," Melvin said. "Strains, tears, whatever you want to call them. I think we are going to try to shut him down for a week or so. So whether or not that gives him enough time to get back in 15 days has yet to be determined."
Byrnes is hitting .219 with six home runs and 23 RBIs in 46 games.
