Diamondbacks' Gordon injured on play at plate
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Arizona reliever Tom Gordon strained his left hamstring while making a tag at home plate and left Sunday's 4-3 loss to Milwaukee.

The 41-year-old Gordon threw a pitch over the head of Mike Cameron in the sixth inning and the Brewers' Rickie Weeks took off from third base. Gordon covered the plate, caught catcher Miguel Montero's throw and tagged out Weeks.

Weeks slid into Gordon, who said he felt something as he slowed down.

"Once I stopped, my leg really hurt me. Good thing is it's still on my body," he said.

Gordon clutched immediately for his left leg, stayed down for several minutes and needed help getting off the field. He was not putting any weight on his left leg.

Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said Gordon would likely be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

"I can't imagine it's not a DL," Melvin said. "As he was going down to make the tag, that's when it bit."

Gordon is in his first year with the Diamondbacks. He is 0-1 in three appearances after coming off the disabled list last week.

"I worked so hard on the elbow, worked so hard on rehabbing, coming back from surgery and for something else to happen it kind of gets you down a little bit," Gordon said.
