Arizona's Petit on DL with shoulder strain
PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed right-hander Yusmeiro Petit on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.

The injury was the reason Petit was lifted after four innings of Arizona's 5-4 loss to Washington on Friday night, new Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch said.

"He felt something and he's going to get some tests done," Hinch said before Arizona played the Nationals on Saturday night. "We're going to err on the side of caution."

Petit (0-3, 8.03 ERA) had replaced injured Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb in the rotation, and Hinch said he hadn't decided who would take Petit's scheduled start next Wednesday against Cincinnati.

"There's a good option in Triple-A, we've got a couple of options in Double-A who are pitching well," Hinch said. "We'll get to who it is in time and until then we'll go with one extra guy in the bullpen."

Right-handed reliever Bobby Korecky was recalled from Triple-A Reno to take Petit's roster spot.

Shortstop Stephen Drew is also being sent to Reno for a couple of rehabilitation starts. Drew, sidelined since April 25 with a strained left hamstring, could rejoin the Diamondbacks before the current home stand ends next Wednesday.
