--SS Stephen Drew returned to the starting lineup Wednesday for the first time since April 24, when he re-injured his left hamstring while making a defensive play behind second base. Drew singled home a run while hitting fourth in the order for the first time in his career as a starter.
--LHP Clay Zavada, promoted on Tuesday as bullpen insurance, was returned to Mobile to make room for RHP Bryan Augenstein on Wednesday. --SS Josh Wilson was designated for assignment to clear room for OF Gerardo Parra. The D-backs have 10 days to trade, waive or release Wilson, who was signed as a minor league free agent over the winter. Wilson pitched a scoreless inning in Monday's 13-5 loss to Cincinnati.
--OF/1B Conor Jackson was given a battery of tests Wednesday, manager A.J. Hinch said, as the D-backs attempt to discover the cause of the fever and flu-like symptoms that have bothered him for the better part of two weeks. No results were immediately available. Jackson tried to play through it but was seemed to get worse last weekend before being placed on the disabled list Tuesday. He had two hits in his last 24 at-bats, and his average fell to .182.
MEDICAL WATCH:
SS Stephen Drew (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 25. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Reno on May 10, and he was activated May 12. He returned to the starting lineup May 13.
OF/1B Conor Jackson (illness) went on the 15-day disabled list May 12. He underwent a series of tests May 13, but the results weren't immediately available.
RHP Yusmeiro Petit (right shoulder strain) went on the 15-day disabled list May 9.
1B Tony Clark (strained ligament in right hand) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 5.
RHP Tom Gordon (torn left hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list May 4.
RHP Brandon Webb (right shoulder bursitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 7. He threw a bullpen session April 21 but missed a session April 24 and was shut down. Webb is likely out until June.
