--OF Justin Upton extended his career-best hitting streak to 14 games with a single and a double Thursday. He hit third in the order for the second consecutive day in an attempt to jump-start the feeble offense. Upton has boosted his average from .167 to .294 during the streak, a stretch that includes all six of his homers.
--RHP Dan Haren made his major league-leading seventh consecutive quality start at San Diego on Thursday. He is only 3-3 despite a 1.84 ERA. Haren was unable to add to a three-game winning streak because he failed to hold 2-0 and 3-2 leads in a 4-3, 10-inning loss at San Diego. Haren has 51 strikeouts in 49 innings and has limited opponents to a .193 batting average. MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Tom Gordon (torn left hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list May 4.
SS Stephen Drew (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 25.
RHP Brandon Webb (right shoulder bursitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 7. He threw a bullpen session April 21 but missed a session April 24 and was shut down. Webb is likely out until June.
