--RHP Brandon Webb gave up six runs on six hits in four innings against Colorado, his shortest outing against the Rockies since Sept. 23, 2003. Webb said his right shoulder stiffened after the Rockies' four-run third inning, and he gave up homers to SS Troy Tulowitzki and C Chris Iannetta in the fourth.
--2B Felipe Lopez homered in his first at-bat with the D-backs, lining a 1-1 pitch into the seats in left-center field off Colorado RHP Aaron Cook as the D-backs' first batter of the game. It was the first leadoff home run in a season in the D-backs' 12 years.
--Regulars 3B Mark Reynolds and RF Justin Upton did not start, giving way to 1B Tony Clark and OF Eric Byrnes, with 1B/3B Chad Tracy starting at third. It gave the D-backs another left-handed bat against Rockies starter RHP Aaron Cook. Upton is 1-for-9 in his career against Cook, and Byrnes entered at .304. Tracy is 19-for-35 against Cook after singling twice Monday.
--RHP Billy Buckner, RHP Juan Gutierrez and INF/OF Ryan Roberts made their first season-opening roster, although all have previous major league experience. Buckner made seven appearances with Kansas City in 2007 and 10 with the D-backs in 2008. Gutierrez, out of options, pitched seven games with Houston in 2007. Roberts played in nine games with Toronto in 2006, eight with Toronto in 2007 and one with Texas in 2008.

RHP Max Scherzer (shoulder stiffness) took a cortisone shot before spring training started and was delayed in his spring work. He will open the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he is expected to make his first regular season in the second week of April because the D-backs have an off day the first week.
OF Eric Byrnes (hamstrings) did not play his first spring training game until mid-March, but he reported no ill effects.
LHP Doug Davis (sore left triceps) missed two spring starts, but he was expected to be ready for the start of the season.
