--CF Chris Young was not in the starting lineup for the first time in 107 games, dating back to April 20. Young pinch-hit in the ninth inning, striking out. --SS Stephen Drew returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday's game with a sore groin. Drew went 1-for-5 with a run scored.
--Arizona RHP Dan Haren and San Diego RHP Jake Peavy each gave up five earned runs. Haren went six innings, Peavy five. Both came into the game with sub-3.00 ERAs.
--Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said RF Justin Upton's oblique injury is no longer cause for worry, and Upton will be called up from a minor league rehab stint once the club feels he is comfortable offensively. Upton went 0-for-4 Wednesday for Class AAA Tucson, leaving him with a .310 average in seven rehab games.
BY THE NUMBERS: 38 -- Runs the D-backs have scored in six games with OF Adam Dunn through August 17, even after being shut out Sunday in Houston. They are 4-2 since his arrival last Tuesday.
