Arizona Diamondbacks Notes, Quotes 2008-08-19
--OF Chris Young has played 105 consecutive games, the longest streak on the D-backs, and he would not have it any other way. "I'm young. I can still go every day," Young said. "I'm glad they are giving me the opportunity. The more you play, the better you are going to get. It's a learning process for me right now." Young has played every inning since his last off day April 20. He has career highs with 35 doubles and four triples this season.

--LHP Randy Johnson made his seventh quality start in his last eight outings Sunday, a 3-0 loss to Houston, his first loss to the Astros in seven career starts. The beginning of the game was delayed by 14 minutes when a ceremony to retire Craig Biggio's number ran long. Johnson had to stop warming up at one point, but he said he was not affected by the delay.

--Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin watched part of the ceremony in which former 2B Craig Biggio's No. 7 was retired Sunday. "He's a terrific athlete who had a Hall of Fame career," Melvin said. "He's one of the better athletes who ever played." LHP Randy Johnson: "I played with him for two months (in 1998). All the accolades are well-deserved. He was a great teammate."

--SS Stephen Drew had the D-backs' only two hits against Houston on Sunday, both singles. He has hit safely in 30 of his last 32 games while raising his batting average to .284.

--The D-backs went 4-2 on their just-concluded road trip to Colorado and Houston while winning the season series against both teams.

BY THE NUMBERS: 38 -- Runs the D-backs have scored in six games with OF Adam Dunn through August 17, even after being shut out Sunday in Houston. They are 4-2 since his arrival last Tuesday.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "He takes a lot of pressure off everybody in our lineup. We're deeper, and it makes our lineup a lot tougher to navigate." -- D-backs manager Bob Melvin, on new OF Adam Dunn.
