Dbackszone.com | Arizona Diamondbacks News, diamondbacks Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --C Miguel Montero has three home runs in his last 16 at-bats after hitting two in an 11-5 victory over Houston on Saturday, including a grand slam for a career-high five RBIs. Montero also doubled, giving him a career-high 10 total bases. He has six starts in the 26 games since C Chris Snyder returned from a fractured testicle. "It's something I can't control. When I get a chance, I want to go out and do my best," Montero said.
--RHP Yusmeiro Petit, pitching after eight days off, made his longest start of the season Saturday, giving up two runs in seven innings of an 11-5 victory over Houston. No. 5 starter Petit is 2-2 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts since being recalled from Class AAA Tucson on July 1. "I was still throwing bullpens, still staying sharp," Petit said through interpreter Montero. --OF Adam Dunn hit safely in his first five games with the D-backs and batted .286 with two doubles and three RBIs in his first week with the team. With his seven walks, his on-base percentage was .464. "He has a terrific eye. Even when he is not hitting he's on base. He takes a lot of pressure off everybody in the lineup," manager Bob Melvin said.
--OF Conor Jackson was given Sunday off, his first day off since June 6. He had started every game but one since then, and in that one entered the game in a double-switch. "I'm pressing a little bit right now," said Jackson, 3 for 21 on the six-game road trip but still hitting .302. "That's the game of baseball. You go through tough streaks."
--2B Chris Burke hit his first two homers of the season Thursday and Friday and had a season-long four-game hitting streak while getting regular time at second base in the absence of 2B Orlando Hudson. His hitting streak was snapped Sunday.
BY THE NUMBERS: 38 -- Runs the D-backs have scored in six games with OF Adam Dunn through August 17, even after being shut out Sunday in Houston. They are 4-2 since his arrival last Tuesday.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "He takes a lot of pressure off everybody in our lineup. We're deeper, and it makes our lineup a lot tougher to navigate." -- D-backs manager Bob Melvin, on new OF Adam Dunn.
