--The D-backs' team batting average (.227) entering the game in Los Angeles was the worst in the major leagues by 10 percentage points, and their on-base percentage (.300) was the worst by eight points. Five of their hitters ranked among the lowest 22 in batting average among players with 50 or more at-bats -- OF Eric Byrnes (.154), Young, OF/1B Conor Jackson (.195), C Chris Snyder (.196) and SS Stephen Drew (.205). Drew has missed 14 games with a left hamstring injury.
--OF Chris Young broke an 0-for-23 slump with an infield single in the sixth inning, his hit coming when Dodgers SS Rafael Furcal could not make a clean transfer on a slow grounder. Furcal did not make a throw to first base on what could have been a routine groundout. Young, hitting .167, was dropped to seventh in the order for the second time in three starts and has hit in every spot in the order expect fourth and eighth. He was ranked No. 99 among the 101 qualifiers for the NL batting title and No. 100 in on-base percentage entering Tuesday's game. --The D-backs tied a franchise record for home runs in an inning when 3B Mark Reynolds, OF Justin Upton and C Miguel Montero hit bases-empty homers in the seventh inning of a 4-3 loss to Milwaukee on Sunday. It was the 10th three-homer inning in franchise history, the first since Sept. 28, 2002, when OF Steve Finley, 3B Matt Williams and OF Felix Jose did it in the sixth inning of a 17-8 victory over Colorado.
