Arizona Diamondbacks Notes, Quotes 2009-04-28
--The D-backs are 6-9 against the N.L. West, a dramatic reversal from their 2008 start, when they built a 20-8 record in April by going 17-5 in division games. The D-backs play only four games in the N.L. West in the next four weeks, when they travel to Southern California for two-game series against Los Angeles and San Diego beginning May 4.

--SS Stephen Drew (left hamstring) was placed on the disabled list Sunday, nine days after initially feeling a pull in his hamstring while running out groundball in the third inning of a game in San Francisco. Drew returned to the lineup last Wednesday but made only two starts before the injury flared on a defensive play Friday. "We figured if it's six or seven days before he would be able to play again and rather than go short (on the roster) for that long, go ahead and put him on the DL and get him healthy," manager Bob Melvin said. Drew is hitting .205 with one hit in his last 15 at-bats.

--SS Josh Wilson was purchased from Class AAA Reno to fill SS Drew's spot on the major league roster and made his 2009 debut as a pinch-runner Sunday. Wilson, 28, has played 116 major leagues games with Florida, Washington and Tampa Bay. By adding Wilson, the D-backs reached their 40-man roster limit.

--The D-backs played Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days" when San Francisco LHP Randy Johnson took the mound in the first inning of his return to Chase Field on Saturday, his first game there as a visitor. Johnson signed autographs for fans on Friday.

BY THE NUMBERS: .205 -- the D-backs' batting average with runners in scoring position, the lowest in the NL

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Obviously, I'm not real happy and it's not what we wanted to hear. Dr. (Michael) Lee said it was a three-to-six-week deal whenever you strain your shoulder. We went on the three-week side of it first and now we are going to go with the six-week side of it." -- RHP Brandon Webb, on his extended absence because of a shoulder injury.
