Outfielder Conor Jackson's career numbers have skewed higher in the second half during his professional career, but this is getting ridiculous.

Jackson has seven multi-hit games in 10 games since play resumed July 18 and is 20-for-42 (.476) with four home runs, three doubles, a triple and 13 runs in that span.

He was 7-for-12 in a three-game weekend sweep of San Francisco, and has 14 hits in his last 25 at-bats. He was named the NL Player of the Week on Monday, the second time he has won the award this season.

"Conor has been on fire ... literally on fire," D-backs manager Bob Melvin said. "He's squaring it up a lot, a couple of times a game. He's not swinging at bad pitches. He's done just about everything. He's been contagious for everybody else."

The D-backs have 11 multi-hit games in their last 14 games, and their sweep in San Francisco was their first series sweep since May 13-15 against Colorado.

"I'm feeling good. I'm seeing the ball good. I'm a little more patient," said Jackson, who has settled comfortably into left field and will remain there the rest of the season in the absence of Eric Byrnes (left hamstring), with Chad Tracy taking over at first base.

Jackson has 12 homers, three short of his career high, and with 56 RBI is approaching last year's total of 60 runs batted in. His career high is 79, set in 2006.

He hit .266 before the 2007 All-Star break and .308 after it. He has hit .269 before the break and .291 after it in his three previous seasons.

PADRES 8, DIAMONDBACKS 5: RHP Greg Maddux beat the D-backs for only the third time in 14 career decisions Monday when he broke a 14-start winless streak. The D-backs had 11 hits, the 11th multi-hit game in their last 14, but left 10 men on base against Maddux and six relievers. RHP Micah Owings gave up eight runs in three innings and fell to 0-6 with a 6.87 ERA in his last nine starts. OF Conor Jackson has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games after an RBI double in the ninth inning.
