Shortstop Stephen Drew made history Monday, not that he wanted to make a big deal about it.

Drew joined Robin Yount and Nomar Garciaparra as the only shortstops in major league history with at least 40 doubles, 10 triples and 20 home runs in the same season when he hit his 20th homer in the Diamondbacks' 4-2 victory over St. Louis at Busch Stadium.

Yount did it twice with Milwaukee, in 1980 and 1982, when the Brewers were in the American League, and Garciaparra did it with Boston in 1999. So that means Drew is the first player in NL history to accomplish the feat.

"I don't look at stats until the end of the season," Drew said Monday, reiterating a line he has used during his breakout season. "It's a good feeling to put up 20 (homers). It's a better feeling to get the win."

Drew had three hits Monday, coming within a triple of his second cycle in three weeks against St. Louis. He had a single, two doubles, a triple and a homer against the Cardinals on Sept. 1, starting a run in which he has eight doubles, two triples and five home runs.

"Since he took over the leadoff spot (near the All-Star break), he has really been the key to our offense," manager Bob Melvin said. "He doesn't get a lot of hoopla. Hopefully he's recognized for what he's accomplished."

Drew hit .238 with 28 doubles, four triples and 12 homers in 150 games last season.

"I came in this year with a fresh start. I tried not to put too much pressure on myself," Drew said.

DIAMONDBACKS 4, CARDINALS 2: RHP Brandon Webb tied Cleveland LHP Cliff Lee for the major league lead with 22 victories and SS Stephen Drew became the first shortstop in NL history to have at least 40 doubles, 10 triples and 20 home runs in the same season as the D-backs shaved another half-game off idle Los Angeles' lead in the NL West, getting to within two games with six games remaining. Drew's bases-empty homer run in the sixth, his 20th of the season, gave Webb a 3-1 lead, and Webb struck out 1B Albert Pujols with two outs and runners on the corners to end the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead.
