The Diamondbacks' 0-6 trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco turned out to be even more costly than it first seemed.

Outfielder Conor Jackson underwent an MRI on Friday after being bothered by continued soreness in his right shoulder that he first felt during Wednesday's series finale in San Francisco, a 4-3 loss.

No structural damage was detected, but he was not expected to play the remainder of the weekend series against Cincinnati.

"It bothered him more than he expected when he woke up (Thursday) and he came in for treatment. A throw? A swing? He's not really sure how it happened," manager Bob Melvin said.

Jackson has been valuable cog in the offense all season and has hit third in the lineup for the most part since outfielder Adam Dunn bumped him from the cleanup spot after being acquired Aug. 11 from Cincinnati.

Jackson, on an eight-game hitting streak, is hitting .294 with 12 homers and 72 RBIs and has set career highs with six triples and eight stolen bases. He is closing in on career highs in doubles and RBIs.

Dunn started in left field for Jackson on Friday against his former team and made a spectacular running catch over his shoulder to take an extra-base hit away from Reds shortstop Danny Richar in the fourth inning.

DIAMONDBACKS 3, REDS 2: RHP Brandon Webb threw eight shutout innings Friday to become the NL's first 20-game winner since 2005 as the D-backs broke a season-long six-game losing streak to stay 3-1/2 games behind Los Angeles in the NL West. Webb gave up five hits and two walks to break a personal three-game losing streak. 2B David Eckstein broke an 0 for 19 skid with an infield single as the D-backs broke a shutout on OF Chris Young's single in the sixth. OF Adam Dunn walked with the bases loaded to force in a run in a two-run eighth, and also made an over-the-shoulder catch to take an extra-base hit away from Reds SS Danny Richar.
